A beautiful voice and majestic organ in the heart of Prague

Enjoy an emotional concert for soprano, organ and piano with famous music by Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Gershwin and other well-known composers. Zuzana Koś Kopřivová, an excellent soloist of the National Theatre, brings these melodies to life with her expressive and beautiful voice. She is accompanied by Michal Hanzal, principal organist and pianist of St. Nicholas Church.

The programme moves from the full power of the pipe organ to gentle vocal melodies. Schubert’s Ave Maria creates a peaceful and moving atmosphere, while Gershwin’s Summertime brings a warm and familiar sound. The combination of music, the baroque interior and the exceptional voice of the soprano makes this one of the most popular concerts in St. Nicholas Church on the Old Town Square.

Discover a unique sound experience

During this one-hour concert, the soprano performs from three different places inside St. Nicholas Church on the Old Town Square. She first appears high above the audience on a side balcony, where her voice travels through the baroque interior and fills the central dome.

She then sings beside the majestic pipe organ on the main balcony. From this position, the organ and the human voice blend together and flow down towards the listeners. The powerful sound of the organ also allows you to enjoy the exceptional acoustics and beauty of the church.

For the final part, both musicians perform downstairs, close to the audience. Gershwin’s Summertime sounds warm and personal from nearby, creating a strong contrast with the distant voice heard from above. The concert often ends with enthusiastic applause and a moving encore – but the final piece remains a surprise.
